Grand Opening of the New Factory

Ingredient Solutions Ltd., one of Ireland’s leading cheese solution providers, has officially opened its new, state-of-the-art production facility in Boherbue, Co. Cork. The opening marks a €15 million investment in regional development, increased production capacity, and long-term job creation.

The event was attended by representatives from government, industry, and the local community, including John Broekmans, CEO of Rupp (Ingredient Solutions’ Austrian-based parent company), Cllr Joe Carroll, Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Bernard Moynihan, Michael Moynihan TD, and Fr. Jim Kennelly, who delivered a blessing of the facility.

Gary Davies, Managing Director of Ingredient Solutions, welcomed guests and reflected on the significance of the day:

“This is a proud moment for everyone at Ingredient Solutions—and for the wider Boherbue community. This facility is the realisation of a vision shared by our founder, Ian Galletly, and made possible with the backing of Rupp, AIB, and Enterprise Ireland. It’s not just a building—it’s our future.”

The new 5,000-square-metre facility, located on a 7-acre site, more than doubles the company’s capacity. It features advanced storage infrastructure including chilled capacity for over 1,600 pallets and ambient space for 200. The site includes three direct-to-dock loading bays and is equipped to support five production lines—three of which are being transferred from the company’s previous premises, with one already upgraded.

Annual production capacity is set to rise from 12,000 to 27,000 tonnes in Phase 1, with potential growth to 35,000 tonnes in future phases. The factory has been designed with scalability and sustainability in mind, supporting the creation of up to 50 new jobs over the next 8–10 years.

“This investment unlocks the space and efficiency we’ve needed for years,” Davies continued.

“We’re now able to scale significantly, serve our international customers better, and continue delivering the tailored cheese solutions we’re known for—while remaining deeply rooted in Boherbue.”

The occasion also marks the approach of Ingredient Solutions’ 25th anniversary in September, a milestone the company will celebrate later this year. Founded in 2000 by Ian Galletly, the company has grown from a small rural startup into a global supplier with customers in more than 40 countries. Since being acquired by Rupp in 2022, the business has further expanded its global footprint and capabilities.

John Broekmans, CEO of Rupp, praised the project and the company’s growth:

“Ingredient Solutions is an important part of the Rupp family, and we are proud to support this exciting next phase of their journey. This factory represents our shared belief in innovation, long-term investment, and the talent and spirit found here in Boherbue.”

The company also paid tribute to local partners who played key roles in delivering the project on time and on budget, including Boherbue Co-Op, AIB, Enterprise Ireland, and local councillors. Special recognition was given to Cllr Bernard Moynihan, Tadhg Buckley, and the broader Duhallow community for their ongoing support.

Guests were invited to tour the facility following the ceremony, which included speeches, a blessing, and the official ribbon-cutting. Davies closed by thanking the community and reminding guests of the safety protocols—with his trademark humour:

“There are no planned fire drills today—so if you hear an alarm, or Ted Healy screaming, please exit through the closest door!”

With production scheduled to begin in July, the new facility positions Ingredient Solutions for continued leadership in the international cheese sector—while deepening its roots in Cork.
